ChangeUp owns three patents in the charitable giving space, specifically around the concept of dynamic donate-at-checkout, where a consumer’s pre-selected charity travels with the customer to all checkout pages and challenges others–retailers, banks, card networks and processors–to donate as a reward for shopping. This is achieved through a customer-controlled portfolio charitable giving system.

All three patents were invented by ChangeUp founder Robert Soderstrom and are published for public access by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
